(About graphics, gameplay video had freaking rainbows! IMHO, blizzard will make it darker, its Diablo after all...)
The game isn't going to be out for awhile, I'm sure they're going to change the graphics. I can't imagine a Diablo game with colorful graphics like the ones shown in the video. But, even if the graphics are like that, it's not going to affect my opinion on getting the game.

Anyways, I think witch doctors are definitely replacing necromancers in Diablo 3. With only 5 professions, they're way too similar to both be in the game.

Rob Pardo mentioned about the art direction in an interview to Gamespot. He said that they'll use the 'mood' to represent the dark nature of the diablo mood instead of just coloring everything darker. It also allows them to make better use of contrasting environments. If you spend some time in a 'brighter' environment, you're more likely to appreciate and experience gloomier ambience of hell-like zones.

Though I'm a great fan of the darker themes, I can certainly understand the design decision behind this.

I'm also a fan of the darker themes, but yeah, they have a good reason behind making the game brighter.

Oh well, I don't think any less of the game.

I just looked around blizzards site and the skeleton is wielding a bluish tormented shield. Now if GW2 could steal some of diablos story ideas...

I don't really see any resemblance, other than the center of the shield.

Different shape, different design, doesn't glow like a torment shield, is actually made of a SOLID SUBSTANCE, but has a circle in the middle.

Uh...wat?

Which is shame, with necromancer being my favorite D2 class.

I wonder what other classes would be. Most people think that lineup will be 2 casters / 2 melee / 1 rogue

Well, I'd say the witch doctor is going to be a necromancer/druid hybrid (which would mean druids won't be in D3 either).

At least the witch doctor is going to be similar to necromancer. It's not like they're totally getting rid of the necromancer.

And yeah, that lineup wouldn't be bad.

I think the necromancer was too weak once he ran out of minions. Especially against bosses. He was always great support even with one point in amplify damage, but he lacked some direct damage of his own unless you totally devoted yourself to the bone projectile line.

And i think the mood so far seemed dark enough with those fat monsters falling apart in a pile of maggots and the awesome cracking sound when a boss pwns you. Should make dieing in hardcore rather..dramatic.

Dunno.

Merc: RalOhmSurEth + IoJahPul + RalTirTalSol - Thorns + Holy Shock + Meditation + Might
Golem: Holy Fire
Player: Carrion Wind + Wisp Projector + BerTirUmMalLumBer - Poison Creeper + Heart of Volverine + Grizzly + Fanaticisn Aura + Some fireballs from set items for fun + some teleporting (switch staff with charges)

http://www.zweistein.cz/public/screenshot036.jpg - early version, 4 auras and whatnot. Army of one (i mean of 74, if wine was casted )

Believe me, you are unlikely to run out of minions against anything. Soloing hells Baal of /p8 was piece of cake usually. (decepify + ice mages + clay golem = slow motion baal.)

Yes, you do have a point. The first is a shield and the other one is also a shield.

Have you been on the wrong side of a fully-geared and minmaxed Bone Necro?

Well, that's the point. Necro was good only with very good items. Paladin, on the other hand, is good with +2 all skills weap (Heart of the Oak for example). Hammerdin is godlike in PvE. Of course, with Enigma it's even better, but... yeah.

Or assassin. My first character 2 ladders ago and it made to level 85 pretty fast. Trapsin kills fast, has nice survivability and is cheap to work.

Of course some classes are lower maintenance (bliz sorcs!), but in terms of max gear Bone Necros are insane. Then again, nearly everything is at that point, which is an odd sort of balance that works quite well.

PS: HotO is +3 all.

PPS: Anyone want to bet that max locust swarm Witch Doctor could be a pretty solid mf build? If that scales high it looks pretty good for clearing areas.

Wall of Zombies FTW.

Wish my necro could do that instead of Flesh Golem.

Oh, right, HotO is +3. Forgot about it... It was long time since I've seen one on ladder.

Btw, imo those characters had everything maxed. Did you see how WEAK damage that boss dealt? Witch Doctors either have like 2x health the Barbarian has, or it was just level 30-40 character... I mean, I'm more than sure it's high-level char. Would be strange if a character died during the presentation.

But yeah, those spells look nice. Probably will be balanced, though.

I went to future shop, they had 6, $50, so I was like lolno. I then went to best buy, sold out. 2 EB games locations, sold out. I went back to future shop to look for other stuff, and the 6 were gone. Lol, people actually paid $50.

Diablo 3 announced, Diablo 2 starts selling out again. Gg Blizzard, gg.
